How do I get from museum to museum?

There is unfortunately no special means of transport that takes you from exhibition venue to exhibition venue. Visitors have to arrange their own transportation by bus, train or car. However, the three exhibition venues are not far from each other (Berlin – Lutherstadt Wittenberg approx. 110 km, Lutherstadt Wittenberg – Eisenach approx. 270 km and Eisenach – Berlin approx. 360 km) and are easily accessible by train.

Are the museums barrier-free?

While the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin and Augusteum in Wittenberg are barrier-free and wheelchair accessible, Wartburg Castle in Eisenach is a landmarked site and unfortunately not barrier-free.

Sind die Ausstellungen auch für Kinder geeignet?

Yes, all three exhibitions are kid-friendly.

Children can enjoy the exhibition “The Luther Effect. Protestantism – 500 Years in the World” in Berlin on their own with a children’s booklet, for example.

“Luther and the Germans” at Wartburg Castle has a special audio guide and children’s booklet as well, and kid-oriented workshops can be booked by calling the visitor service hotline.

The exhibition “Luther! 95 Treasures – 95 People” also includes a hands-on component (not only) for children and young people. Visitors large and small can experience various moments from the events of 31 October 1517 at little participatory stations and get a multi-faceted, humorous and very personal picture of the monk Martin Luther and events that shook the world.

How much time should I plan for an exhibition visit?

Plan 1.5 to 2 hours for a visit to “The Luther Effect. Protestantism – 500 Years in the World” at Martin-Gropius-Bau, 2 hours for a visit to “Luther and the Germans” at Wartburg Castle and also 2 hours for “Luther! 95 Treasures – 95 People”.

Please note that these time estimates refer exclusively to time spent in the exhibitions themselves; they do not include travel time to the venue.

Single (normal and reduced) and group tickets (10 people or more) are available for each of the exhibitions. This combination ticket allows you to visit all three exhibitions for the price of two.

Where can I buy tickets to the exhibitions?

Individual tickets to all three exhibitions and the combined ticket can be purchased online by visiting 3xhammer.de. Individuals and groups can also buy their tickets at the museum ticket counters, and the combined ticket is available at all three locations as well. Please note that group tickets are not available online.

Is there a combined ticket for all three exhibitions?

Yes, there is a combination ticket or “combi-ticket” for all three exhibitions, which entitles you to a one-time visit to each exhibition. This combination ticket allows you to visit all three exhibitions for the price of two. It costs 24 € and is valid for the entire duration of all exhibitions.

Please note that the three exhibitions begin at different times:

“The Luther Effect” in Berlin starts 12 April 2017,

“Luther! 95 Treasures – 95 People" in Wittenberg opens 13 May 2017.

All three exhibitions end on 5 November 2017.

Is there an advantage to buying tickets online?

Yes. The online ticket allows you to book a specific time slot for your visit. You can easily print it out at home and avoid the queue at the ticket counter, instead going directly to the entrance where the code on your ticket will be scanned by an attendant. Buying online allows you to avoid extra waiting times. Please note, however, that only single and combination tickets can be purchased online, and the online price includes a 2 € per ticket surcharge for this service. Group tickets are not available in the online shop.

Do I have to register to buy an online ticket?

You can place your order in the online shop without creating a customer account. You also have the option of registering as a returning customer and creating your own customer account, making it easier to buy more tickets. Your personal data will only be used to process the purchase and in keeping with legal data protection regulations.

I bought a ticket online but am unable to visit the exhibition. Can I return the ticket?

No, a return and a refund of the purchase price are unfortunately not possible. You can however pass the ticket to a third party or give it away, because it is not personalized. For further details on the sales conditions, please refer to the General Terms and Conditions listed in the online shop.

How can I pay for my tickets?

The online shop accepts payment by credit card only. Ticket desks at the museums allow you to pay with cash, debit and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard).

Are there gift vouchers for the exhibitions? If so, where can I buy them?

Yes. All three exhibition venues offer gift vouchers for all types of tickets, which can only be purchased directly at the museum ticket offices. Please note that only the voucher for the combined ticket is available in all three museums; vouchers for single tickets to an exhibition are only available at the respective museum.
